As another woman who wants to know how to get rid of belly fat, I have reviewed many programs, packages, and equipment.  I have several reviews in this site and this is my personal review of Insanity Workout by Shaun-T. I tried this program over the summer and here you will find the good and the not so good about the program.

Why Insanity?

Insanity has become one of the top fitness programs thanks to the incredible amount of testimonials and, more importantly, the incredible results users of the program are getting. This program lasts only 60 days, making it one of the shortest programs to guarantee results, thus attracting many people. Who wouldn’t want to burn belly fat in 60 days! The program is intense and Shaun-T is one of those instructors who knows how to make you go the extra mile. He is quite entertaining and driven at the same time.

Is Insanity For You?

To be honest, this program is not for everyone. My personal recommendation is that you take the initial Fit Test and make sure you finish it without problems before attempting this program. The Fit Test keeps track of the repetitions you can complete in a given time. Some people might think that the test means “nothing,” but that is not correct. The Fit Test assesses if you are ready for the program or not. My suggestion for this program is that you should be in decent shape already. Do not worry if you are not there yet, as there are other programs you can do to start your journey on how to reduce belly fat.

What I loved About The Program

  • The part that I liked the most was the fact that the workouts were short, as compared to P90X or RevAbs. The workouts in the first 30 days are around 30 minutes. The second phase routines are a bit longer.
  • The warm up at the beginning, the warm up is so intense that you are sweating after 12 minutes! Then, you do the stretching. It makes a lot of sense to me now. I liked it because for instance with P90X you start stretching, and sometimes, specially in winter months, your body and the rooms are just too cold to be stretching. It seems that this method is better, to start with the warm up and then stretch.
  • By the time the stretch is done, you are almost two thirds of the workout complete! The time goes really, really fast.

What I Did Not Love About The Program

  • Okay, this program is the hardest one I have done in my life. And to be quite honest, I had to take many breaks! I was extremely tired the following day. I should have listened to my doctor that suggested I do not do this to my body, as I have been a bit sick. But, I did  not listen. I finished, would I do it again? I do not think so. I leave it for the younger crowd!
  • I was not having fun. Like I did and do with other programs. But, this is just me.

You can see from the review chart above that the program has really high ratings, and if you read reviews, most of them have something in common, this is the hardest workout you will ever do.

Here you can see how the whole family was doing the workout, reporting all kind of different results, not only on the body.

My husband, my 15 year old son, and I decided to do this together this winter. None of us have any weight issues, we just wanted to see if we could do it. I have bad circulation, being so skinny and all, and I usually suffer all winter cause I’m always freezing and I get depressed. Insanity has improved my circulation, my endorphin level, my appetite, and weirdly enough my sense of smell is better and I can taste food again. I’ve been detoxing like crazy cause of all the sweating involved in doing these workouts! My son has allergies and slight asthma but doing the workout everyday is really improving his endurance and stamina. He also has gained some amazing upper body strength and now can do “windmills” easily (he’s a break dancer). My husband is really thinning down too. I selected this review as is coming from someone 5 years older than me. Remember I said I will leave this to the younger crowd. Well, you can see that even at 50 you can do it too. I guess is never too late to do it. Like the reviewer said, we few modifications you can finish with excellent results.

This is a solid conditioning program. I am 50 years old and have been a hard-partying, tobacco smokin’ SOB for many of those years. As a father of two young kids, my time has been consumed with anything but looking after myself. Suffice it to say, when I started this program, every muscle in my body was sore. Just getting through the warm-up and stretch routines was a butt-kicking. But ya just gotta do it and push on through, even while shouting: “Shawn, FU…you *#$@#$# @#*#*#…you’re killing me!” I’ve found that with a wise diet, modification of some moves (as my knees aren’t what they once were), and some supplemental strength training, you can achieve excellent results.   • Fit Test Tracker. I love this tool! At the beginning of the program you will measure several areas of your body, and watching those inches drop as you go through the program is really exciting. This is a great tool to use with any program, whether you are trying to find out how to get rid of belly fat for women or men.
  • Online Support. If you have questions, you can post them in the forum to get help. Sometimes you can even chat online with the trainers.

Do you need anything else?

  • If I could recommend one thing, it is to take the P90X Recovery Formula. It is just that good. It helps you recover really fast, and that way you can continue with the program without feeling exhausted. Trust me on this one; you will need all of the inner strength you can bring to the program!   • Women will need a really good sports bra. You will be jumping like crazy and you do need support.
  • A heart monitor. You really need to check your heart rate in this program. Some of the sets are incredibly intense and you may feel as is your heart is going to come out of your chest.
  • To prepare your mind, you will be hearing the words “Push” and “Dig Deeper” over and over again throughout the different routines.
